The Association of African American Museums is excited to announce plans for its 41ST Annual Conference, August 7-10, 2019 in Jackson, Mississippi. The theme of the Conference, Roots of Revolution: Reaching Back | Pushing Forward, signifies a chance to usefully look to our shared past to inform and empower the crafting of our futures amid challenging times.

Museums, archives, libraries, galleries and historic sites have never been neutral, and African American cultural institutions have played central roles in revolutionary movements as we have reached back to the lessons of our past in order to push forward. We have created and sustained spaces of liberation that have fostered black racial and social consciousness and subverted systems of oppression. [ READ MORE ]
