2021 AAAM CONFERENCE VOLUNTEER sign-up

Purpose: To assist AAAM staff and event organizers with conference activities. These activities will ensure that conference participants have access to conference information, scheduled services, and resources.

Volunteer Benefits:

(Please Note:  Organizations that sign up to volunteer before June 15th, 2021 will be listed in the Program Booklet)

    Requirements: Self schedule for volunteer shift(s), successfully complete orientation (Monday, August 2nd, 2021 at the J.W. Marriott - Marquis), and adhere to appropriate dress code (business casual, comfortable shoes recommended).

    Time Commitment: All volunteer shift schedules will be published on the Volunteer Schedule based on individual availability for daily shifts. 

    Responsibilities may include: 

    • Volunteering in the AAAM Office in D.C. prior to leaving for Miami, Florida (Please Note: Volunteers signing up for this task must be local to the DC Metro Area).  
    • Information Specialist: Providing on-the-spot customer service to conference participants at the registration/ information desk. Registration will be based at the J.W. Marriott - Marquis.
    • Ambassador: Assisting with conference events located at the J.W. Marriott - Marquis and participating sites. This assistance will include supervising concurrent sessions, customer service role at receptions, and other duties as assigned. 
    • Bus Rider: Acting as guides and monitors on event shuttles. Shuttles will be based at the J.W. Marriott - Marquis and make trips to area museums and sites, as well as sites located in Miami, Florida. 
    • Behind-the-Scenes: Stuffing “Swag bags” before event (Monday, August 3rd) will be conducted by ALL volunteers at the Monday, August 3rd, training session; serving as technical support for the event coordinators (specialized knowledge of computers is required); and other support roles as assigned at the Westin Hotel. 
    Qualifications: Dependability, knowledge of Miami area, local activities, and general visitor information; ability to interact with the public while remaining courteous at all times; relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds, and excellent communication and listening skills with ability to follow written and oral instructions.
